The Guided Tour

Join me on a gentle 1.5-mile stroll across the expanse of Plymouth Hoe and around the old medieval town of Plymouth, take in views across the waters of the Sound which is going to be the first UK marine park, and learn about the rebuilding of the modern city after the devastation of the Blitz in the 1940's.

We will start from the Barbican…. A conservation area and named after the water gate of the long-gone Plymouth Castle, followed by a photo opportunity at the famous Mayflower steps which commemorate the sailing in 1620 of the small ship with 102 Saints and Strangers on board.  On the Hoe promenade, there are memorials to all the national and international events which have featured Plymouth as part of their story…Following Armada Way to the City Centre, we then make our way back to the Barbican and can end at the Plymouth Gin Distillery, established in 1793.
